The Greenwich Conservatives family is made up of the Greenwich Conservative Federation (our local Party organisation), the Conservative Council Group on Greenwich Council, and our wider network of members, activists and supporters.
The Conservative Federation
The Greenwich Conservative Federation is our local party organisation - comprising a group of like-minded people from all walks of life with a common belief in Conservative values. The Federation came into being in March 2003, when the existing Conservative Associations of the two parliamentary constituencies within the Borough of Greenwich joined forces. We currently cover the following Westminster seats:
- Eltham
- Greenwich & Woolwich
The Federation has an elected Officer Team, which looks after the administration of functions such as Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Selection, campaigning and social events. The Executive Council is made up from the Federation Officer Team, Branch Officers, local councillors and other representatives.
Our Branches have local committees and cover areas corresponding to the electoral wards or adjacent wards. Branches look after local co-ordination of the membership, organising events and local campaigning and are intended as the principle means of communication within the Association.
If you live in Thamesmead Moorings, Plumstead or Abbey Wood wards then you are covered by the Erith & Thamesmead constituency. To keep up to date with the work of the Erith and Thamesmead Conservative Association please visit their website by clicking here.
The current Federation Chairman is James Cowling, who has served as Chairman of the Federation since June 2022.
The Conservative Council Group
The Conservatives are the official Opposition in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, with three Conservative councillors currently serving in the Town Hall.
Councillor Matt Hartley serves as Leader of the Opposition Conservative Group.
