Councillor for Mottingham (London Borough of Bromley)
Giles joined the Conservative Party at university in 1977, and is very proud of being one of only seven members of the party in an institution that was otherwise a hotbed of communism. He has been active politically ever since, but was never able to stand for election because of his career as a teacher, most recently at Orion Ravensworth in Mottingham. Having retired three years ago, he was selected to stand in Mottingham Ward and was lucky enough to be elected by local residents.
Away from politics, Giles enjoys singing with a local choir and looking after his grandchildren two days a week. He also admits to being slightly obsessed with cricket.
