Local campaigner Luke Warren has been selected as a Local Conservative candidate for Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham ward in the May 2026 Greenwich Council elections.
Luke, 27, joins existing Councillors Matt Hartley and Roger Tester who will both seek re-election in the ward, which saw a 4.7% swing in support from Labour to the Conservatives in a by-election in June 2024.
Newly-selected candidate Luke Warren works for a medical professional body and has been campaigning on local issues for years. Speaking after his selection by local Conservative Party members, he pledged to campaign to improve bus links across Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham and join the team’s efforts to protect local facilities including the Police Base and Adventure Play Centre.
Luke Warren, Local Conservative candidate for Mottingham, Coldharbour & New Eltham ward said: “I am thrilled to be joining Matt and Roger in the ward team and I’m looking forward to meeting as many residents as possible across Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham in the coming months. Our local communities in the south of the borough need all the backing they can get at the Town Hall. If elected I will give the job of being a councillor everything I’ve got.”
“I want to get something done, in particular, about the ward’s poor bus services, to improve our public transport options. I’m looking forward to listening to people about what they think would help the community most.”
Councillor Matt Hartley, Leader of Greenwich Conservatives, said: “Luke will make a great addition to our local ward team in Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham, and to the Opposition Group at the Town Hall. It is a constant battle to get the Labour-run Council to focus on the needs of communities in very south of the borough, and local people need the strongest team they can get for the coming years.
“We’re looking forward to making our case over the coming months - and continuing our campaigns alongside local residents to protect our facilities like the Police Base and Adventure Play Centre.”
Councillor Roger Tester, who re-joined Greenwich Council after winning the Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham ward by-election in June 2024, added: “I’ve known Luke for a long time and I know he’ll work tirelessly for residents if they give him the chance to serve - as they have me and Matt. We’re both looking forward to campaigning with Luke to win all 3 seats in Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham ward at the next election.”
