Greenwich Conservatives have today (14 April) published ‘Putting you first’ – the local Conservative manifesto for the 2026 Royal Borough of Greenwich council elections.
The manifesto sets out the priorities Conservative councillors will follow if elected on Thursday 7th May, standing up for residents at the Town Hall and campaigning to secure more police, protect family homes, defend green spaces, invest in local roads, clean up the streets and end Labour’s traffic chaos.
In a foreword to the manifesto, Councillor Matt Hartley, Leader of Greenwich Conservative councillors, wrote:
"At the last local council elections four years ago, the Labour Party won 52 out of 55 seats on Greenwich Council. That’s not healthy. It means bad decisions, fewer opposition voices, and a council that just doesn’t listen. And that refusal to listen has never been more apparent than in the last four years at the Town Hall.
"Cutting services and raising Council Tax while increasing spending on PR and communications. Imposing Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. Cutting our Play Centres. Hiking parking charges. Letting council tenants down on repairs. Placing punishing costs on leaseholders. Selling off the car parks that our local shopping parades rely on.
"And all the way through, putting the Labour Party’s party political interests over this borough’s interests at every single turn—most recently by forcing through changes that will limit the questions that can be asked about the way the Council is being run, and how your money is being spent. Enough.
"Even with our small numbers on the Council, Greenwich Conservative councillors have made a real difference in the last 4 years. More mobile CCTV cameras, the return of town centre jet-washing, loop trains to the Elizabeth Line restored, HMOs blocked in our communities, a police base saved from closure, and millions saved for local taxpayers - the list is a big one.
"But with more councillors, we could do even more. We’re asking for your votes at these local elections so that we can keep putting YOU first - and hold the Council administration to account for the decisions they make. In our manifesto you can read the priorities we will follow if elected as your local Conservative councillors on 7th May. I hope you will consider lending us your support."
