New plan announced for Greenwich Town Centre

 

During the consultation at Davenport house last weekend, a number of Conservatives responded to the Council's preferred option for a one-way gyratory system clockwise on Creek Rd, Greenwich Church St, Greenwich High Rd and Norman Rd.

Council still behind on council tax collection

Government figures published this week highlighted that the council still has some way to go in collecting council tax.  In 2009/10 the council only managed to collect 94% of the £82,655 it needed to collect, well below the national average collection rate of 97.01%. 

Latest scrutiny panel meeting highlights worrying data on prospects of looked after children

The latest Children and Young Peoples Scrutiny Panel has highlighted worrying data on the prospects for looked after children in Greenwich.  The meeting focused on Greenwich Council's performance in meeting certain local and national targets for educational standards, outcomes for looked after children, supporting parents, improving access to services for young people and improving behaviour.

Following Thursday’s General and Local Elections Greenwich Conservatives are pleased to welcome three new Councillors to the Council Group, Cllr Matt Clare, Cllr Neil Dickenson and Cllr Adam Thomas.

David Gold, Spencer Drury and Colin Bloom were unsuccessful in their campaigns to be elected to the House of Commons.

Polls opened today across Greenwich for both the General Election and Greenwich Borough Elections. Today is the day that you can Vote for Change in Greenwich, in total you have four votes.

Greenwich Conservatives would improve local schools

Sadly Greenwich has been in the bottom 10 in the country for most of the last 8 years and the worst in London for most of that time at Secondary level. Conservatives think that after nearly 40 years the Labour run Council has had enough time to try to improve the schools. In Primary education one of the main concerns remains that, despite having some very good schools the overall level remains very poor, suggesting many schools are well below an acceptable level. In addition, truancy remains high.
