On Saturday Cllrs Geoff Brighty and Spencer Drury met with Greenwich Park Manager Graham Dear to review the progress being made in restoring the grounds after the Olympics.

Protecting our Olympic legacy

It has, by any standards, been a truly memorable year for our Borough. A year that began with The Queen granting us Royal Borough status ahead of Her Jubilee celebrations continued with the arrival of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer. Many local people shared in the excitement of the Games, but it was only natural that such a huge event taking place on our doorstep would cause disruption, and that some residents would be concerned about its effects.

Blackheath Conservatives review Greenwich Park post Games

Peninsula Festival failure raises new questions over taxpayers' cash

Greenwich Conservatives have expressed renewed concerns over the failure of the Peninsula Festival in North Greenwich, which was allocated £50,000 of taxpayer funding by the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Council officers have now confirmed that the operators of the festival have not been able to deliver their business plan, with very small attendance at the "Live Site" big screen, and many events cancelled.

Greenwich Conservatives have raised concerns over the placing of barriers on the route to the Olympic Events in Greenwich Park. Traders have complained that the barriers in the town centre and Olympic volunteers have directed spectators away from the market and other shops, leading to a fall in expected trade.
