Mayor of London Boris Johnson today visited Eltham High Street to meet with local people and talk to David Gold, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Eltham along with Justine Greening MP.

After arriving at Eltham Train Station Boris visited Eltham Grill and the Demelza's charity shop.

The costs of running City Hall will escalate by a staggering 23% under plans being promoted by London Mayor Ken Livingstone, the capital's Conservatives have warned.  Draft budget papers published for the next 2005-06 financial year reveal that the Mayor's core budget will leap from £56.3 million to £61.3 million, a jump of almost 9 per cent.

Steve Norris promised today to boost London’s attractiveness as a place for business and tourism – and make the city safer than New York. The announcement coincides with the release of a London Business Survey, conducted by You Gov, which found crime was the most important issue facing London.

An opinion poll published in today’s Evening Standard shows that Ken Livingstone's lead has been halved. The YouGov poll shows that Ken Livingstone's support has dramatically fallen since he took the decision to rejoin Labour at the beginning of the year.

In the poll, Livingstone was on 40% to Steve Norris’s 31%, with the Lib Dems struggling in a distant third on 17%.
