Shape the Standard

We are calling on Greenwich Council to invest in some improvements to the Royal Standard shopping parade in Blackheath.

Local Councillor, Geoff Brighty, who has been a long standing supporter of our local traders, said " The Blackheath Standard is a valued local shopping centre and I want to see it enhanced with Greenwich Council making improvements that will help support our local businesses and help our area thrive".

We are calling for:

■ The wooden fencing at the Old Dover Road Car Park to be replaced by a hedge or a wall as the current fencing appears permanently damaged

■ A local history board to be put up on the green to celebrate the history of the area

■ The Council to re-open the old public toilets  either as toilets or with a new use, as chosen by residents

Malcolm Reid added “Thanks to Geoff working with local traders, the Council is now axing all day free parking outside the shops in Old Dover Road in favour of 2 hour free bays. This will be good for local shops. We need to support our local businesses and our proposals aim to do that by promoting the Standard”.
