Councillors visit hidden gem of Eltham

Councillors Adam Thomas and Matt Clare attended the annual open day of the Environmental Curriculum Service centre on Bexley Road.

The centre inlcudes nine acres of wild meadows, woodland, ponds and gardens and allows schools in Greenwich as well as Lewisham, Bexley and Bromley to bring pupils to learn practical lessons on environmental and outdoor issues and supports the curriculum in science, geography and physical education, which even includes orienteering. The centre also provides the training for Forest Schools as well as work experience placements and apprenticeship support for working outdoors.

Matt and Adam met the staff and trustees of the centre to discuss its work and how schools can use the centre, as well as going on a tour of the site and its classrooms.

If your school is interested in using the facilities, please contact the centre 0208 850 2615 for more information.
