Colin Bloom stands up for Plumstead

Colin Bloom is the Parliamentary Spokesman for the Conservative Party in Erith & Thamesmead. Married with four children, Colin is actively involved in his local church, council and charities. Colin has been helping Plumstead residents to object to the planning decision to build a huge social housing scheme on Kings Highway in Plumstead. After the planning meeting in February, where Colin spoke on behalf of local residents, he wrote: “Sadly despite the efforts of hundreds of local people who are going to be blighted by this awful scheme, Labour Councillors, including a local ward Councillor pushed through the application.
This was in spite of the fact that the plan fell outside of Greenwich’s own Unitary Development Plan on at least twenty items. The scheme is totally out of character with the local street scene, in fact when I likened the design to Belmarsh and a Greenwich Councillor quipped that ‘Belmarsh was better looking!’ In my opinion it looked like the most biased, one sided and pre-determined planning application one could imagine. From what I heard, not one person who was there is going vote for Labour again.”
