Improvements at last for Master Gunner Estate

Measures designed to improve the Master Gunner Estate have been implemented at last. Baker Road, which suffered years of potholes, has been completely resurfaced, with speed bumps to slow traffic. The road is owned by the QE Hospital Trust, which many local residents believe had failed to maintain the road.

Also, bus-stops at Greenwich Heights, which previously sat directly opposite one another, often bringing traffic to a standstill, have been spaced apart,  allowing better traffic flow. Broken paving slabs, which had been a hazard for pedestrians, have been replaced and seemingly forgotten streetlamps have been repaired. Local Councillors Graeme Coombes and Andy Jennings have campaigned for these improvements since 2005. Graeme said: “After much dithering and delay, these measures have improved the quality of the area considerably.”
