Eltham Centre handed over to the Council

This week the Eltham Centre building was handed over to the Council so that it could install furniture and prepare the structure to be opened. The opening is expected to occur in stages from the middle of November with the leisure facilities being the last to open.

On Tuesday (23rd October), Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury visited the building as part of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and saw the new facilities first hand. Spencer commented "The building looks really good and the facilities in it will be an improvement on those currently used across Eltham."

During the trip Spencer raised a range of issues which residents had expressed concerns over, including the parking of coaches when dropping off swimmers for competitions, the increased traffic along Archery Road and the spectacular views into the bedroom windows of Blunts Road (some of which have already been blocked off with opaque glass). In addition he continued to raise concerns about the replacement of the sports hall at Meadowside, which will be closed when the Ferrier Estate redevelopment finally happens.
