Planning permission granted for Welcome Inn

On Wednesday 26th September Planning Permission was granted for the redevelopment of the Welcome Inn by the Eltham and Kidbrooke Planning and Environment Committee.

The plans are to demolish the burnt out shell which remains of the former pub and replace it with a four storey building which contains 31 flats. The flats will be divided between 12 one bedroom, 12 two bedroom and 7 three bedroom, making up the 31 units in total. There will be 31 car parking spaces in the development and limited gardens. The four storey section of the building will be at the corner of Westmount Road and Well Hall Road, with most of the building being only 2 storeys high along the remainder of Westmount Road.

The number of units in this development is higher than that laid down by the Council in its main planning documents and the space for families in the 3-bed dwellings is also below the minimum.

The planning officers had recommended granting planning permission subject to various conditions (including provision of 35% of affordable housing in the development).
