It's time for real plans to cut crime

Mayor Livingstone is constantly telling us that crime is going down – but this doesn’t tally with the experiences of many of us living in Greenwich. The Met’s own figures show that the crimes people care most about - burglary, violent offences and gun crime - are on the increase locally.

Greenwich and Lewisham London Assembly Candidate Andy Jennings knows that the best way to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour is to put more uniformed presence on our streets, and to give them increased authority to take action to protect our community.

Andy said, “Too much of our police officers time is spent filling in paperwork back at the station, leaving Community Support Officers with few real powers out on the streets.

“Only the Conservatives will strengthen their powers and cut down on the amount of time spent form filling to ensure that our police force is used as an effective means of cutting crime.”
