Ferrier Estate Leaseholder and Tenants AGM

Last night, David Gold attended the Ferrier Estate Leaseholders and Tenants AGM at the Community Centre last night at the invitation of the residents.  Cllr Chris Taylor represented the Conservative Group.

Both addressed the meeting and answered questions from residents on after listening to the many examples of incompetence and disinterest in their plight on the part of Greenwich Council.

David reported that more than 80 residents have returned questionnaires as part of his survey into life on the Estate.  In addition he has received many letters, email and telephone calls.  Vowing to help take their fight to all levels of local and national government, David announced that Caroline Spelman MP had written to the Minister, Ruth Kelly, demanding answers on Labour's neglect of the residents.

David said, :"The Council's treatment of people on this estate is nothing short of a disgrace, but it is also a tragedy that a close-knit community is being ripped apart.  The inhumane conditions people are being forced tro endure is scandalous.  Even the Nazis didn't board up staircases so that single people living alone in tower blocks were too scared to walk up to their flat at night and couldn't use the lifts because nobody would hear their screams if they broke down.  The stories I have heard tonight disgust me."
