Eid-ul-Fitr - a message for the Muslim community

David Gold, the Parliamentary Candidate for Eltham sends this message to the Borough's Muslim community:

 "Eid Mubarak

"I would like to send my warmest wishes to the local Muslim community on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid is a time for friendship and goodwill, a time of forgiveness and making amends.  It is also a time of great joy, where children, communities and families come together in celebration.

"Eid is also a time for giving and sharing, and an opportunity to reflect on our duty to help people who are less fortunate than ourselves.  It carries a powerful message to us all: to stop and think; to appreciate our family, our friends, and the community that we live in.

"The local Muslim community has contributed a huge amount to our society.  I believe Britain can be proud of its vibrant, multi racial society, and of our British identity and shared values.

"I admire your commitment to family, your spirit of hard work, and your devotion to community - all of which are values that Conservatives applaud and cherish.

"Eid Mubarak".
