LGBT surgeries announced

Three Greenwich Conservative Councillors will be holding additional surgeries relating to LGBT issues on the last Thursday of each month. The surgeries will be held from 7-8pm at 74 Westmount Rd, Eltham.

Any resident of the borough wanting to discuss issues relating to council activities, including housing, civil partnerships, and council tax can come along to the surgeries without an appointment during the allotted time.

Cllr Chris Taylor said, "I hope that these surgeries will be a benefit for gay and lesbian residents within the borough and their families. We want to ensure that all residents no matter what their sexual orientation or colour are given full support. In the past the Conservatives have been potrayed as sometimes hostile to gay people and issues. I hope holding these surgeries will be a step in the right direction

"The introduction of Civil Partnerships, has made dealing with the council a new and more complicated process. We decided to hold these surgeries to ensure that the LGBT community of the borough have the support needed when navigating the often complicated bureaucracy to access services"
