Eltham to make history with first London Primary

The Conservative Party has announced that their candidate for Eltham at the next General Election will be chosen by an open primary.  All registered electors in the new Eltham constituency will be eligible to choose the candidate at a meeting on 31st July at the Bob Hope Theatre on Wythfield Road.

The meeting will see each candidate give a short presentation followed by an interview with Michael Portillo.  There will then be an opportunity for those present to ask questions

Chairman of Greenwich Conservatives, Graham Attwood, said, “This is a very exciting opportunity for the people of Eltham to be the first in London to have a say in choosing their next MP through an open primary.  This is just part of our commitment to enagaging with the wider electorate to select the right candidate for all of Eltham.”

Before the next General Election, boundary changes come into force and the new Eltham constituency consists of the following wards: Coldharbour and New Eltham; Eltham North; Eltham South; Eltham West; Kidbrooke with Hornfair; Middle Park and Sutcliffe; Shooters’ Hill.

If you are a registered voter in one of these wards and would like to attend and vote at the primary, you do not need to be a member of the Conservative Party to do so.  However you must register by 28th July.  You can register by email to office@greenwichconservatives.com or by filling in the form on the contact page of this website.
