Plumstead bus services under threat

Over the past year Greenwich's Labour council has made proposals to cut one of the local bus services in Plumstead. Labour has argued that the Plumstead to Woolwich leg of the 122 (which runs from Plumstead to Crystal Palace) should be cut on the grounds of congestion delays. Plumstead Conservatives have argued to London Bus Services via Conservative councillors that cutting this vital link for Plumstead residents is wrong.

Conservative candidate for Plumstead Simon Emmett says "At a time when Labour nationally are claiming to be the promoters of public transport, its astounding that the Labour council would be proposing cutting transport links. This is simply more evidence of the systematic sidelining of Plumstead in the Council's priorities. Rather than proposing cuts, the Council should be aiming to reduce congestion more effectively. As the DLR and 2012 draws nearer congestion is only going to get worse, cutting a route is unlikely to solve the problem in the long term."
