Nigel will give a stronger voice on the Council for Eltham North

Yesterday's Eltham North by-election was won by Nigel Fletcher, the Conservative Candidate, who polled over 43% of the vote; and despite claims from the Liberal Democrats that they were making advances in Eltham, their vote collapsed to below 10%.

Speaking after his victory, Cllr Fletcher said, "I am delighted and honoured to have been elected to represent the people of Eltham North.  Our campaign highlighted the clear choice between Labour's talk and Conservative action.  Our priorities of more Police, lower taxes and better value for money are the ones which we know people here support, and on which the Labour council have failed to deliver.  These are the priorities I will take to the Town Hall, and on which I and my Conservative collegues will demand action.  I thank everyone who supported me, and look forward to giving them a stronger voice on the Council."
