Westcombe Woodlands Open Day Success

The Westcombe Woodlands Open Day on Sunday 4th October was a great success helped along by a splendidly sunny early autumn day.  A new access gate was formally opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony and an estimated 200 plus local residents took the opportunity to discover the normally closed steeply wooded area behind Seren Park Gardens.

Local Councillor and Woodland Trustee Geoff Brighty was there all day welcoming visitors and said "It was a hugely enjoyable day and the interest in the Westcombe Woodlands was enormous.  It was particularly good to see so many parents and children there as well as being able to welcome the Mayor of Royal Greenwich".

The Friends of Westcombe Woodlands plan to hold further open days and also hold regular volunteer days to keep the woods well maintained while retaining their essential wildness.
