Awards ceremony to celebrate our local schools

Greenwich Conservatives were pleased to support an event that celebrates the great work done in our local schools.

The Council's Schools Celebration 2015 was an opportunity to honour those individuals who were nominated for their outstanding work to improve the outcomes for children in the borough. The Mayor was there to present awards to the highly commended and winners in each of the three categories - Support Staff Of The Year, Teacher Of The Year and Governor Of The Year.

The Support Staff of the Year was named as Bobbie McCabe, from Cherry Orchard Primary School; Teacher of the Year was Maxine Ferguson, from Eltham Hill School, while Ian Taylor was awarded Governor of the Year for his work at Mulgrave Primary School.

Councillor Mark Elliott, who serves in Eltham South ward and also chairs the governing body at Horn Park Primary School said: "It was a great opportunity to congratulate just some of the people who give so much to improve the futures for Greenwich children. There is much to be proud of in our schools and the chance to honour some of our outstanding staff and volunteers is very welcome."
