Improvements to Greenwich Park

Greenwich Park is to undergo a series of improvement and refurbishment works. These works will take place between Monday 14th January and 28th March, the car park will remain open however the Avenue will be closed to traffic.

The works will include:

Road from Blackheath Gate to St. Mary’s Gate to be completely resurfaced

The Avenue all 500m of granite gulley on both sides of the road will be removed and re-laid

All parking bays on Blackheath Avenue will be resurfaced

As part of the Blackheath Avenue works the crown of the road will be levelled off to substantially improve the experience of visitors using the car park

The road works will run concurrent to the final phase of the Blackheath Gate works, including traffic calming measures on Charlton Way at the entrance to the park to reduce the risk at what is a serious accident black-spot for cyclists.

Along with this there will be footpath improvements.

Unfortunately this will mean disruption to the use of the park road network and subsequent impact outside the park, but this is unavoidable given the scale of the work being undertaken.  The only safe option therefore is to close the park to through traffic.
