Avery Hill car wash development back on the table

Eltham South councillors have been informed that the owners of the Avery Hill car wash have submitted yet another application to redevelop the site, following the closure of the hand car wash that has operated on the site over the last 18 months.

Again it is a mixed use three storey development, with single large shop unit and 7  2-bed flats above.  The development would include 8 car parking spaces, one allocated to each flat and one visitor space.  As with previous proposals the development will again be accessed from Eastnor Road.

Similar proposals were turned down by Greenwich Council in February last year, following a campaign by Conservative councillor Adam Thomas, who argued with lcola residnets that it would be an inappropriate development for the area.

Cllr Thomas, " I objected to the last set of proposal, because the scheme was too dense and out of keeping with the shops and residential properties in New Eltham.  We also shared the concerns of residents on Eastnor Road regarding the safety of the proposed access."

"As ward councillors we'll now be closely scrutinizing the new proposals to see if there has been a significant improvement."

Residents now have a couple of weeks to get their responses in to the proposals.  Application reference: 12/2491/F
