Councillors stand up for residents on licensing application

Eltham South councillors Adam Thomas and Eileen Glover recently attending a hearing of Greenwich Council's Licensing Committee, which was hearing an application from the STC Sports Club at the end of Ivor Grove to extend its alcohol licensing hours.

The application saw a significant amount of concerns from local residents living on all sides of the club, not just ion Ivor Grove, but also Blanmerle Road and Green Lane, raising concerns about noise

Cllr Glover, who has supported residents previously in regards to complaints about noise and has attended mediation meetings on behalf of residents, spoke on behalf of residents at the meeting.  Councillors acknowledged that the club, now under new management had done a lot to improve the current situation, however there were still concerns that extending the licensing into the early could cause significant disturbance for residents in what is essentially a residential area.

The council's Licensing Committee chose to support these arguments and the application was turned down.
