Gardening on the Progress Estate

On Wednesday Eltham Conservatives joined Chair of the Progress Residents’ Association Rita Bygrave to help sort out the gardens of residents of Moira Road who were struggling to maintain them.

Rita has been helping to clear gardens across the Progress Estate for the last couple of years, but after a conversation with Spencer Drury (one of her local Councillors) was joined this week by several local Conservatives.  Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury was joined by GLA candidate for Greenwich and Lewisham Alex Wilson, Cllr Neil Dickinson and a concerned ex-Moira Road resident Craig Foxall,  in helping to trim bushes, clear flower beds and remove a huge amount of Japanese knotweed.

Spencer said “Rita is doing a fantastic job in helping people who struggle with the physical effort required to clear their own gardens.  We were all delighted to be able to help out yesterday and tidy up one garden and clear a lot of space in the other.”

“The only problem is that my wife is now expecting me to do the same at home, something I’ve spent some time avoiding.”

“If anyone else would like to get involved and give Rita a hand, please do get in touch with me and I will pass your details on.
