First Resident Meeting on Greenwich University Village Shop

Eltham South councillors Adam Thomas and Eileen Glover recently attended the first meeting for residents living on Avery Hill Road regarding Greenwich University Students' Union Village Shop.

Last year the Village Shop received an extension to its license allowing it to sell alcohol until 3am in the morning.  As part of the conditions of the license the Students' Union must hold quarterly meetings with residents to discuss any issues or problems.

Adam and Eileen met with Tina Dagg who manages the shop as well as the Eltham South Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Tina confirmed that alcohol was not being served until 3am on any evening and that the latest the shop stayed open was until 2am for two nights a week, the rest of the time the shop was closing at 9pm.

As part of the licensing arrangement the shop is now labelling all its alcohol with special Student Union labels, therefore if residents do find any bottles or cans which they suspect have come from the shop, they are now clearly identifiable.

Also if residents have problems with noise from students coming out of the campus site they can ring the 24 hour security guard based at the campus gatehouse on 0208 331 9101, or if they have concerns can speak to Tina Dagg the manager of the shop on 0785 030 9062.

If residents are concerned they should contact Adam or Eileen who will be able to help them further.
