Local councillor celebrates school achievements at Crown Woods

It was a real privilege to attend Crown Woods School's Year 11 Leavers ceremony on Friday, hundreds of pupils, parents, teachers and governor attended the event to celebrate the end of GCSE exams and the achievements of all the pupils and staff.

The event also included brilliant musical and singing performances from the pupils as well as a whole host of awards for sporting, academic and contributions to school life.  The school seems to be going from strength to strength, with a very positive Ofsted inspection at the end of 2009, the GCSE exam results expected in August are expected to be the best the school has had and the near completion of the new school buildings will mark the next phase in the school's progression,

Cllr Eileen Glover is currently a Governor at the school, and during the event I spoke to governors and the head teacher Mike Murphy to offer further support in the future.

We wish all the pupils leaving this summer the best of luck for the future!

Cllr Adam Thomas
