Your Eltham South councillors attended the recent Greenwich NHS consultation events for the new Community Hospital on Passey Place. Residents living in Eltham North, South and West as well as those living in Middle Park and Sutcliffe have been asked to give their views.

Last night saw the first Overview and Scrutiny meeting since the Council elections. In theory this committee is the main body for scrutiny in the Council, but frequently its agenda is so dry that nothing of any great importance is revealed.

Eltham South councillors, Adam Thomas, Eileen Glover and Matt Clare attended one of the first gatherings of residents at Oakways, who have recently formed a new Neighbourhood Watch Group and will now be looking at forming a Residents' Association.

Conservatives today welcomed news that the Eltham Centre swimming pools may soon be reopened to the public. Although the Cabinet Member concerned was unable to provide a clear timetable for the whole facility to be reopened when asked by Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury prior to the elections, it now appears that the whole building should be usable again before the end of the year.

NHS Greenwich will begin a series of consultation events next week to allow residents to look at it's early proposals for the the development of a new community hospital at Passey Place. NHS Greenwich is stating that construction is likely to start in mid 2011 with final completion in early 2013.
The hospital will replace the former Eltham and Mottingham House cottage hospital and is likely to include:

Conservative Councillor Adam Thomas recently visited the Avery Hill Nursery's open day to look at best practice in early years education. The nursery is considered to be an outstanding child care facility in the borough and at the moment offers child care for students studying at Greenwich University and the Avery Hill campus.
