It was a real privilege to attend Crown Woods School's Year 11 Leavers ceremony on Friday, hundreds of pupils, parents, teachers and governor attended the event to celebrate the end of GCSE exams and the achievements of all the pupils and staff.

Cllrs Eileen Clover and Adam Thomas met residents living in Avery Hill to discuss the council's recent applications for a drinks and events license for the whole of Avery Hill Park, and a time limited license for the showing of a film and a classic car rally on Saturday 17 July. 

The latest Children and Young Peoples Scrutiny Panel has highlighted worrying data on the prospects for looked after children in Greenwich.  The meeting focused on Greenwich Council's performance in meeting certain local and national targets for educational standards, outcomes for looked after children, supporting parents, improving access to services for young people and improving behaviour. 

Conservatives welcomed news that two extra police officers have been assigned to Eltham High Street, which should allow officers from the Eltham North Safer Neighbourhood Team to spend more time dealing with issues in that ward.
 
A key pledge in the Conservative Manifesto for Council elections was to put in place police teams in Eltham and Greenwich Town Centres and following a request by Chairman of the Safer Neighbourhood Panel, Mr Terry Powley, confirmation was given by the police that they would be allocating extra officers to the High Street.

Your Eltham South councillors attended the recent Greenwich NHS consultation events for the new Community Hospital on Passey Place.  Residents living in Eltham North, South and West as well as those living in Middle Park and Sutcliffe have been asked to give their views.

The exhibition set out the early plans for the redevelopment of the site and Cllr Thomas and Cllr Clare asked a number of questions regarding the healthcare faiclities that would be on offer to replace the former cottage hospital, as well as transport and parking issues and design issues.

Eltham South councillors, Adam Thomas, Eileen Glover and Matt Clare attended one of the first gatherings of residents at Oakways, who have recently formed a new Neighbourhood Watch Group and will now be looking at forming a Residents' Association.

NHS Greenwich will begin a series of consultation events next week to allow residents to look at it's early proposals for the the development of a new community hospital at Passey Place.  NHS Greenwich is stating that construction is likely to start in mid 2011 with final completion in early 2013.
