Labour's claim on crime proved false

Labour Party claims that burglary was falling in Plumstead have been revealed as false in new Police figures.

New police statistics for July 2008 show that over the last year in Plumstead:-

  • Burglary has risen by 64%.
  • Drugs offences are up 79%.
  • Robbery is up 21%

In addition violent crime remains well above the London and Greenwich average.

Conservative candidate for the Plumstead by-election Toks Bailey says, “The current local police team is based in Thamesmead not Plumstead, which is ridiculous and I will campaign to move them to the High Street.

“I would campaign for an extra police team for Plumstead High Street”.
