Open Day for Westcombe Woodlands

The Friends of Westcombe Woodlands Open Day on 4th October will be a great opportunity for local residents to visit this otherwise little known and rarely frequented part of our area.

Blackheath Westcombe Councillor, Geoff Brighty, who recently became a Trustee said " There has been a lot of work especially with the installation of a new gate into the woods in Seren Park and getting things ready for the Open Day. There are some really dedicated volunteers working to make improvements but at the same time to maintain the essential wildness of the woods."

The Open Day on Sunday October 4th runs from 10am to 4pm, is hosted by the Friends, and will give residents an opportunity to visit the four acres of wild woodlands. The day will start with the formal "opening" of the new gate in Seren Park, close to the pathway to Maze Hill station, which will be the main access point during the day.

Due to the nature of the terrain, on a steep slope, and the wildness of the woods, public access is strictly limited although volunteers work there regularly. So this is an opportunity for local residents to see and enjoy a unique and largely unknown place right on our doorstep but good walking shoes or boots are recommended!
