Blackheath Litter Pick

Lewisham and Greenwich Councils organised a spring clean on Blackheath following an initiative from the Mayor of London. Blackheath Westcombe Conservative Councillors, Geoff Brighty and Alex Wilson joined the clean up on Saturday 22nd March.  Armed with litter picks and protective gloves they helped to fill several sacks with discarded plastic bags, tin cans and general rubbish.
Geoff said "We worked on the Greenwich side of the Heath on the areas bordering Vanbrugh Terrace and Vanbrugh Park. It was a great opportunity to help maintain the appearance of the Heath which is rightly valued by residents and visitors alike."

Alex added: "It was fantastic to see so many people out helping to clean up the heath. In total it looked like all the volunteers found about 40 bags worth of rubbish along with a bicycle and mattress."
