New candidate selected for Coldharbour and New Eltham ward

Coldharbour, Mottingham and New Etlham Conservatives have selected a new candidate for the council elections due to take place in 2014.

Matt Hartley works for a national education charity and spends much of his spare time working in the local community, including serving as a school governor at Ealdham Primary School and as a local credit union volunteer.  He has also recently joined the committee of the Friends of Fairy Hill Park.

With a long track record as a community campaigner, Matt has now been selected as the new Conservative candidate for Coldharbour and New Eltham ward following sitting councillor Cllr Neil Dickinson’s decision not to seek re-election.

He will be standing alongside Cllr John Hills and Cllr Mandy Brinkhurst in the next council elections, expected in May 2014.

Matt said: “It is in an honour to have the opportunity to put myself forward to represent the residents of Coldharbour and New Eltham ward and I am looking forward to the campaign.  I am joining a great team, and John and Mandy have already started to show me the ropes.

“As a candidate I will be spending the next year speaking to as many local residents as a possible and doing whatever I can to support the many community groups and residents associations that do such good work for local people.”

Cllr John Hills, President of the Greenwich Conservative Federation and Chairman of Coldharbour, Mottingham and New Eltham Conservatives, said: “Mandy and I are delighted to have Matt on board and we know he will make a strong contribution to the ward.  We are always available to help residents with any issues or concerns that they have, and with our new team in place we are looking forward to continuing to work hard for local people.”
