Consultation opens on new proposals for former Avery Hill petrol station

Coast & Capital LLC have put in a third planning application to redevelop the former Avery Hill petrol station on the corner of Avery Hill and Eastnor Roads.

As in the previous two applications, the applicants are still proposing a 2-3 storey block, which includes a retail space on the ground floor and 9 flats on the first and second floors.  The development would be accessed via the former petrol station entrance on Eastnor Road and would include enough parking for 10 cars, and a communal rubbish area, for residents recycling and waste.

The last application in 2009 was thrown out by Greenwich Council officers and the Planning Inspector, who found that the proposals "fails to take the opportunity to significantly improve the character and quality of the area."

The council has now started a consultation on the new proposals, residents can access the proposals here:

The planning reference for the proposals is: 10/2547/F

Eltham South councillor Adam Thomas said: "These proposals have been highly controversial in the past, with Eltham Area Planning Committee, council officers and the Planning Inspector all finding fault with the proposals.  We will need to consider these proposals carefully, to see if the developers have addressed the concerns raised over the last 3 years."

"I would encourage all residents in the local area to get their views into the council and make their voices heard on this matter."

The council will be consulting on the proposals until 29 November 2010 - if you need more information, please contact Cllr Adam Thomas on
