Coldharbour & New Eltham – Police Safer Neighbourhood Team

Your local councillors work closely with the SNT base on Coldharbour & New Eltham.  Cllr Mandy Brinkhurst recently wrote to the Borough Commander, Richard Wood on behalf of all three councillors to raise residents concerns in connection with the base not being open to residents.

Cllrs Mandy Brinkhurst and John Hills attended a meeting with Inspector Nick Crowe at Etham Police Station and were able to engage in open discussions around access and flexibility to the base on Coldharbour estate.  All three councillors will continue to support the initiatives that will develop links between our SNT and the community.

At the most recent SNT ward panel meeting on the 5th August, which all three ward councillors attended, it was good news to hear that the Coldharbour & New Eltham ward has one of the lowest crime rates in the borough, compared again the boroughs crime rate at 10.53% Coldharbour and New Eltham’s is just 6.28%.

We heard that whilst there had been 5 minor burglaries over the past 5 weeks it would appear that they had been opportunist and no set pattern had appeared, and Police are reminding all residents that whilst we can enjoy the summer sunshine, to ensure that windows, doors etc are locked downstairs when retiring for the evening or all locked when leaving the premises.

We were informed that our PCSO’s have visited all schools in the ward delivering the road safety message.  Our PCSO’s are also trying to establish Neighbourhood Watch groups across the ward so if you are interested in becoming involved please contact the team on 020 8721 2736 or 07768 083607.

If you think you would be interested becoming involved in your SNT ward panel, please contact either of your ward councillors or the SNT team direct.  More information regarding your area can be found on
