Cllr Spencer Drury collecting first prize in the Men in Sheds raffle

Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury attended the Men in Sheds open day with Eltham West candidate Charlie Davis just over a week ago. As usual he bought a raffle ticket, but not like normal, he actually won. Today he picked up the fully planted wheelbarrow which had been made in the Men in Sheds workshop on Sherard Road.

Answers to questions from Greenwich Conservative councillor Spencer Drury and GLA member Gareth Bacon have revealed that Labour-run Greenwich Council never presented a key report on a DLR extension for Eltham to the Mayor of London or TfL despite a blaze of publicity on the issue before the last set of General and Council elections four years ago.

Coalition Government forces Labour Councillors to end £100,000 pensions perk

Greenwich Conservatives welcomed the news that the government has decided to end Councillors’ gold-plated pensions which cost Council Tax payers in Greenwich £100,000 each year. For the last two years Conservative Councillors have proposed the ending of pensions for sitting Councillors, but despite arguing that cuts were forcing them to make difficult decisions, Labour Councillors voted unanimously to keep their expensive perk.

'Siege of Westcombe' is Over as Run to the Beat is cancelled

A demand for a five year deal appears to have caused the cancellation of the Run to the Beat Half Marathon event which caused residents in the north of the Borough such inconvenience each year. Blackheath Councillor Geoff Brighty has worked to stop the event causing residents such inconveience and Eltham Councillor and runner Matt Clare is disappointed Greenwich Council have not been able to make a success of the event.

Conservatives Attend Police Meeting

Local Conservatives Cllr Matt Clare, Thomas Turrell, Gemma Robinson, Toni Hale and Della Avery attended the Meet the Met Commissioner Event at Charlton House to discuss policing in Greenwich. This was a chance for residents to raise any concerns they had directly with their borough commander and with the Commissioner himself. It was also a chance for the police to tell local residents about some of the work they’re doing.

Labour’s response to NHS consultation: Confused disengaged and late.

Labour-run Greenwich Council has produced a confused, disengaged and late response to the Greenwich Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) consultation on urgent care in the NHS across the Borough. Conservatives have accused the Labour-run Council of not caring about this important consultation after its response focused purely on the walk in centres in the North of the Borough, and did not oppose any closure of Grabadoc and did not even mention the possibility of an out of hours urgent care centre in the new Eltham hospital.

Greenwich Conservatives call on Greenwich Council to support the 2014 Real Poppy campaign to commemorate the centenary of WW1

Councillor John Hills has called on Greenwich Council to support the Royal British Legion and Imperial War Museum campaign to see the UK covered in real Flanders poppies during August 2014, the centenary of the start of the First World War in which over 37 million people were killed or wounded.
