You Decide: Greenwich residents invited to choose Conservative London Mayor Candidate

Voters in Greenwich are invited to vote in the Conservatives open primary to select the party’s Mayoral candidate regardless of whether they are Conservative supporters or not. Anyone wishing to take part in the process must pay a £1 registration fee and be on the electoral role in Greenwich. Current Mayor of London Boris Johnson, who was chosen by the public to be the Conservative candidate in 2007, has announced he is to stand down at the election in May 2016.

Fires in London at lowest rate since 1966

The number of fires recorded in London is now at its lowest level since records began thanks to the fire prevention work by the London Fire Brigade (LFB). The figures also show that the number of people killed by fires in London has halved in the last five years and is now at its lowest level since the millennium.

London Transport crime down 8.3%

New figures have shown an 8.3% decrease in the crimes committed on public transport in London compared to the year 2014-15. The figures came out as Conservative Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, announced the details of policing the 24 hour tube which comes into effect in September and includes the jubilee line which goes to North Greenwich. The DLR which serves Greenwich and Woolwich is also set to offer a 24 hour service.
