First Resident Meeting on Greenwich University Village Shop

Eltham South councillors Adam Thomas and Eileen Glover recently attended the first meeting for residents living on Avery Hill Road regarding Greenwich University Students' Union Village Shop.

Report back on January's Council Meeting

The January Council meeting felt a lot like the calm before the storm as the proposed Council budget is bought before members in the next month (or so, as the date keeps being shifted).  There were serious items on the agenda and some which were relatively uncontroversial. 


Conservative Government provides funding to help Greenwich's elderly tenants

Housing Minister Grant Shapps has offered older tenants in Greenwich struggling to manage and heat their large family homes extra help to ensure that they can find smaller properties more suited to their needs.

Greenwich will get a share of £13 million to make it easier for those tenants wanting to move from larger family homes to smaller, more manageable homes, to do so.

Parking in Eltham and Boris’ improvements to the High Street

At the Highways Committee meeting in December (ironically delayed from the 1st to the 16th due to snow blocked roads) Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury attended to speak about two items – the review of the controlled parking zones around the Eltham Centre/Station and the upgrading of Eltham High Street which is being funded by Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

First Resident Consultation Meeting for Sparrows Farm

Following Greenwich Council granting a new alcohol and events license to the student union bar at Sparrows Farm, Cllr Adam Thomas requested that the bar management fulfilled the conditions within the license agreement to hold regular resident consultation meetings.
