Conservatives Criticise bogus consultation

On Friday the Woolwich based Labour Council opened a consultation on introducing parking charges on Eltham High Street, but Conservatives fear that the result is already a forgone conclusion.

 

Sparrows Farm residents meeting: 23 February 7pm

The next Sparrows Farm residents meeting, to discuss the bar's licensing arrangements will be held on Thursday 23 February, starting at 7pm at Sparrows Farm at the end of Saprrows Lane.

Eltham South councillor talks to police on YouTube video

Eltham South councillor Matt Clare has taken immediate action with the local police and council after concerned residents posted footage on video website YouTube of speeding traffic on Avery Hill Road.

Councillor attends workshop on Avery Hill cycle routes

Eltham South councillor Adam Thomas attended a workshop event last night, held with Hyder Consulting to consider proposals for new cycle Greenways in Avery Hill Park.  Also at the meeting were representatives of the parks Department, cycling officers and representatives of the Avery Hill Park Friends Group.

Councillor questions provision for looked after children

At the latest Corporate Parenting Panel, councillors were presented with worrying new data on the educational achievement of looked after children.

In 2011 no looked after children who received alternative educational provision achieved 5 A*- C grades at GCSE, in total only 14% of looked after children as a whole in the borough achieved 5 A*- C GCSE grades.

Greenwich Council has failed to address residents concerns about the introduction of parking charges on Eltham High Street and has instead given an irrelevant response to a petition with hundreds of signatures.

At Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting Greenwich Council’s Labour Cabinet agreed to commission a further study to consider the feasibility of extending the Docklands Light Railway to Eltham. 

 

Eltham South councillor speaks to Alderwood School Council

Eltham South Councillor Adam Thomas recently visited Alderwood School, to speak to the School Council about their ideas for the local area and Avery Hill.

The School Council is made up of elected pupils from each of the classes, and help to make decisions affecting the school.
