Greenwich Conservatives recently revealed the failure of the Labour Council’s dog control orders.

In figures received as a result of a Freedom of Information request from Conservative Leader Cllr Spencer Drury, it is clear that:-

Greenwich Council's financial mess

At Tuesday night’s Cabinet meeting figures revealed that Greenwich Council’s budget was being overspent by £13.48m with another £3.5m in further pressures which could still make the situation worse.

 

Eltham North Councillors talk to residents on Dairsie Road

Eltham North councillors Spencer Drury and Dermot Poston, led a team this Saturday to talk to residents in Dairsie Road about their concerns over speeding cars as well as collecting signatures for a petition to present to Greenwich council.

The petition calls for the council to consider what traffic calming measures could be put in place on the road to make it safer, as well as full consultation with residents and Deansfield School. Residents also showed councillors Drury and Poston signs that local children had made themselves asking drivers to slow down.

Greenwich Conservatives defend security of tenure for Council tenants from the Labour Party

In an often bad tempered Council meeting in Greenwich last week, Conservative Councillors found themselves defending security of tenure from an increasingly incoherent set of attacks by Labour Councillors.

The Labour Party’s Cabinet Member for Housing moved a motion criticising the Conservative approach to security of tenure which included a statement that:

Spending chaos in Greenwich HR department

Greenwich Conservatives have labelled wasteful and inefficient Council spending of £1.5m on consultants in the Human Resources department over the last four years. 

While employing these extra consultants, Greenwich was spending nearly £700,000 making existing employees redundant.   

Conservative Councillor opposes redevelopment of Greenwich Market at Appeal

 

On the 9th of September, Eltham North Conservative Councillor and Planning Board member Dermot Poston spoke at Greenwich Hospital’s appeal against the Council’s decision to deny planning permission to its redevelopment of Greenwich Market.

 

Eltham North Councillor Objects to late night licence

Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury has written to object to the licensing application for the Eltham Terrace Club (2a Well Hall Road, London, SE9 6SF) which has recently asked the Council to allow the following activities:-

Burglaries rise in Eltham North

At this evening’s Eltham North Safer Neighbourhood Panel meeting, attended by local Councillor Spencer Drury, it was revealed that burglaries had risen sharply over the summer, peaking at ten in July, which was the highest this year. One panel member from the Progress Estate stated that there had been two burglaries in one week on Lovelace Green.

 

Councillors informed about benefit fraud in Greenwich

Last night was a meeting of the Audit and Risk Management panel which looked at a range of accounts, annual governance letter and internal audit reports, which while important are generally quite opaque.
