Council’s ‘cleaning’ may leave landscaping plans in the toilet

Plans by Transport for London (TFL) to re-landscape a key ‘Gateway’ to Eltham, have been undermined by the council’s inability to clean Greenwich’s streets.

Greenwich Conservatives have revealed that the Labour Council is wasting thousands of pounds each year on a expensive IT contract.

Conservatives win door entry systems for Strongbow

Following a question by Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury at the February Council meeting, the Council have confirmed that the blocks of flats in Strongbow Crescent will receive door entry systems over the summer.

On Sunday Cllr Spencer Drury visited the Olympic Aquatic Centre in Stratford for a swimming gala featuring teams from the six boroughs hosting the Olympics this summer.  The Greenwich team battled hard but unfortunately lost out to Waltham Forest over the last few races.

Spencer is a supporter of Greenwich Borough Mariners Swimming Club which is based at the Eltham Centre.

Conservatives oppose Labour’s police funding cut

At last night’s Council budget meeting Greenwich Conservatives opposed Labour’s cut to police funding. 

 

"Crown Woods must be allowed to compete with grammar schools in Bexley - It's what parents want."

Councilllors on the Children and Young People's Scrutiny Panel left the Town Hall last week to hold a meeting at the newly completed Crown Woods College, built under the last Government's Building Schools for Future programme.

Conservatives Criticise bogus consultation

On Friday the Woolwich based Labour Council opened a consultation on introducing parking charges on Eltham High Street, but Conservatives fear that the result is already a forgone conclusion.

Greenwich Conservatives welcomed news, announced on Friday, that the Coalition Government had agreed to provide extra funding to address the crippling debt crisis at South London Healthcare Trust, which includes both Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary Hospitals. 

 

Council to repair fencing at Lovelace Green

This evening Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury met with Progress Residents’ Association Committee Member Keith Billingshurst and a Council Officer to discuss the future of the fencing at Lovelace Green.
