Council confusion over Eltham Church of England rebuild

At the September Council meeting Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury asked a formal question to the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services about the situation with regard to the refurbishment or rebuilding of Eltham Church of England Primary School (often called Roper Street School).

At Tuesday evening’s Council meeting the Labour Council rejected calls by Conservative Councillors to publish the results of each school at GCSE and ‘A’ level broken down by subject.

Parks in chaos as Council cheats to hit ‘Green Flag’ target

Greenwich Conservatives today raised concerns over the Council’s planning and spending on parks across the borough as the website ‘Greenwich.co.uk’ revealed that the Labour Council had cheated to claim that 13 parks across the borough had reached ‘Green Flag’ status when in fact only ten had done so.

Cllr Drury visits the flooded Eltham Park Long Pond

As summer reaches its height, Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury walked various sections of the Green Chain Walk to see how they were being maintained (or indeed surviving the rain). 

Spencer said "For the first time that I remember, the Long Pond is completely flooded in the summer.  The ground underfoot is completely sodden and the ducks seem to be having a great time."

Boris Johnson visited Eltham High Street on Bank Holiday Monday

Boris is pictured here with GLA candidate and Blackheath Westcombe Councillor Alex Wilson. 

Boris was greeted warmly by the shoppers on the High Street on what was a very wet day, with cars stopping and many people getting their photo taken with the Mayor of London.

Council announces Westmount Road/Rochester Way junction closure for this week

Greenwich Council has announced its intention to resurface of the junction of Westmount road and Rochester Way.  This will mean that from 10th April 2012 for three nights, the junction is expected to be closed from 9pm until 5am the following morning.
