Shoppers at The Mound shopping area on the Coldharbour estate will finally have access to a free-to-use cash machine, after planning permission was granted for an external ATM at the Post Office's new corner premises.

Council leaves future for war memorials open to question

A motion from Conservative Councillors led by Cllr Spencer Drury and Cllr John Hillshas been ignored as Labour-run Greenwich Council has refused to publish or prepare a timetable for the restoration of the borough’s war memorials despite the Centenary of World War One starting in 2014.

A petition calling on the council to 'Mend The Mound' shopping area on the Coldharbour estate will be handed in by the Conservative team in Coldharbour & New Eltham ward at tonight's council meeting, after gaining 642 signatures in just a few weeks.

Conservatives launch campaign to Mend The Mound

The Conservative team in Coldharbour & New Eltham ward have this weekend launched a campaign to force the council to take long-overdue action to regenerate The Mound shopping area. The Mend The Mound petition is supported by local shopkeepers and comes at a time when residents are increasingly frustrated by the Labour-run council's neglect of the south of the borough.

Minister awards ‘community asset’ status to the Porcupine

Community Pubs Minister Brandon Lewis MP today announced that the Porcupine Inn in Mottingham has been awarded ‘Asset of Community Value’ status after it was nominated by Mottingham Residents Association as part of the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) #ListYourLocal initiative. Coldharbour, Mottingham and New Eltham Conservatives have been supporting the campaign to save the pub from demolition by the LiDL supermarket chain, including helping residents on the Royal Borough of Greenwich side of the village to object to the plans.

Porcupine update: No rubberstamp for LiDL

Coldharbour, Mottingham and New Eltham Conservatives have welcomed Bromley Council’s decision not to rubberstamp LiDL’s proposed demolition of the Porcupine Pub in Mottingham village. Cllr John Hills, Cllr Mandy Brinkhurst and 2014 candidate Matt Hartley have been supporting Mottingham Residents Association and the Save the Porcupine group in the campaign to save the pub from demolition.

Borough Ad campaign ignores Eltham

Conservatives have criticised a £50,000 Council ad campaign to promote tourism in Greenwich Borough, after it ignored the historic attractions of Eltham. A report on the campaign was considered at the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
