A Better Walk to Blackheath Village

Those who take a walk across the Heath along Prince of Wales Road  - and many Blackheath Westcombe residents do to get to and from the Village and the Station - should find it a smoother, safer walk.

Music event on Blackheath

The decision by Lewisham Council's Licensing Committee to allow a two day music event on their part of Blackheath in 2011 - and every year thereafter - has astonished many local residents. An appeal has been launched against the decision and is scheduled to be heard starting on 3rd March at Bromley Magistrates Court.

At Council on 26th January Blackheath Westcombe Conservative Councillors spoke against an increase in the number of objections from two to eight needed to trigger referral of applications to Planning Committees  The intention is to save money. 

Supporting Friends Group at Mycenae House

Roadworks for Blackheath Village - UPDATE

As an update to our story about the planned Blackheath Roadworks taking place outside the train station in Blackheath Village. An update from neighboring Lewisham Council states that the roadworks will now start at 7pm Monday 7th February 2011 and should continue for 5 days.

Report back on January's Council Meeting

The January Council meeting felt a lot like the calm before the storm as the proposed Council budget is bought before members in the next month (or so, as the date keeps being shifted).  There were serious items on the agenda and some which were relatively uncontroversial. 

 

Planned Roadworks for Blackheath Village

There will be major road works outside the Blackheath Railway station in the village starting on Monday 31st January and these should last 5 days.

Blackheath Westcombe Local Police Meeting Jan 2011

On Wednesday evening I attended the quarterly Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) meeting where all the local chairs of neighbourhood watch teams along with the local ward police and community support officers along with Councillors get together to discuss community safety over the last 3 months.
